BSF - Croydon's bid is successful

Croydon Council will be handed a share of Government money to revamp secondary schools in the borough, it was announced on Monday. Croydon's share is believed to be just over £500million.

The joint bid with Kingston was one of 10 new projects given the go-ahead as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme.

Croydon Council has been attempting to secure funds since announcing it would be applying in June last year.

Amanda Haehner

We were devastated that Mandy Haehner, Croydon teacher, Local NASUWT Committee Member and National Ex-President, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday 8th June.

Mandy's funeral was held in Cambridge on 24th June. Many friends and colleagues attended from all over the UK. St Mary's High School was shut for the day to enable staff to attend.

There was an obituary in the TES of 26/6/09, page 25. See here.
